What ages are Hopkins summer camps for?
Our Hopkins camps serve students in grades K - 9th (approximately ages 5 to 14). Each camp is designed for a specific grade range so students work with peers at a similar level. No prior experience is needed. We offer beginner-friendly camps as well as advanced options for returning campers.
Are there half-day and full-day camp options in Hopkins?
Yes! We offer both half-day (morning or afternoon) and full-day camp sessions in Hopkins. Session lengths vary by camp, so check the schedule on this page for specific start and end times. You can mix and match a morning camp and an afternoon camp for a full day of STEM learning.
Does my child need experience to attend a STEM camp?
No prior experience is required for any of our camps. Our instructors teach all skill levels, from complete beginners to experienced students. Each camp includes step-by-step instruction so every child can follow along, build real projects, and have fun learning. Kids who have attended before can choose more advanced topics to keep growing their skills.
What topics can my child learn at summer camp in Hopkins?
We offer a wide range of STEM topics including robotics, coding, game design, 3D printing, Minecraft, cybersecurity, and engineering. Each camp focuses on a specific topic so kids can dive deep into what interests them most. Check the camp schedule on this page to see all 19 topics available in Hopkins.
Who teaches the camps?
All Tech Academy camps are taught by trained instructors who are experienced in both the subject matter and working with kids. Instructors are background-checked and we maintain low student-to-teacher ratios. Many of our instructors are educators, college students in STEM fields, or tech professionals who love teaching kids.
How many kids are in each camp session?
We maintain low student-to-teacher ratios. Depending on the topic, students may work individually or in small teams. Our goal is to keep every student engaged and actively building throughout the session.
Registration & Logistics
How do I register for a summer camp in Hopkins?
Scroll down to the camp schedule on this page, find a camp that interests your child, and click the Register button. You will be taken to the registration page hosted by Blake School & Hopkins Community Ed. Camps fill up quickly, so we recommend registering early to secure your preferred dates and topics.
How much do summer camps cost?
Camp pricing varies by session length (half-day vs. full-day) and duration. Pricing is set by our district partners and shown on the registration page when you click the Register button for any camp. Some districts offer early-bird discounts or multi-camp discounts, so check the registration page for current pricing.
Can I sign up for multiple camps?
Absolutely! Many families register their kids for multiple camps throughout the summer. Each week features different topics, so your child can try robotics one week and coding the next. You can also combine a morning camp and an afternoon camp in the same week for a full day of different STEM activities.
What is the cancellation or refund policy?
Cancellation and refund policies are managed by the district partner hosting the camp. Contact Blake School & Hopkins Community Ed directly for information about cancellations, transfers, or refunds. Contact details are available on the registration page.
The Camp Experience
What is a typical camp day like?
A typical camp session starts with the instructor introducing the day's project and teaching new concepts. Students then work hands-on building robots, writing code, or creating designs depending on the topic. The session includes team challenges and creative problem-solving activities. At the end, campers share what they built. Many projects go home with the student. It is a fun, fast-paced learning experience from start to finish.
What should my child bring to camp?
Bring a labeled water bottle, a snack (for half-day camps), or a packed lunch (for full-day camps). For coding or digital camps, send a USB drive with at least 2 GB so your child can save their work and continue at home. All project materials, equipment, and technology are provided by Tech Academy. Your child does not need to bring a laptop or any supplies.
Can I mix and match different camp weeks?
Yes! New sessions start every week from June through August, so you can build your own summer schedule. Try robotics one week and coding the next, or combine a morning camp and an afternoon camp in the same week for a full day of STEM learning. Sign up for as many or as few weeks as you like.
Does my child get to keep what they build?
Yes! For many camps, students take home the projects they create, whether it is a coded game, a 3D-printed object, or a creative design. For camps using shared equipment like robots, students keep any digital work they create and take home the skills and experience they gained.
